iPhone Apps Tacitly Encouraged - update (Not really)

The original post was recently updated with more specific words from Apple.

After re-reading the initial post I guess my wishful thinking got the best of me. The closing statement from gearlog

Apple’s moving slowly, but I think the direction is clear: this is a next-generation handheld PC platform, and by this time next year, we’ll all be able to treat it as one.

so mirrored my own wishes, that I took that statement to be more than it was.

I do wish that to be the case, it would be a shame if it does not happen.
